UNESCO and Ugandan partners held a five-day technical workshop in Kampala from 14 to 18 September to develop more inclusive, gender-transformative STEM teaching approaches. The work aims to turn findings from a national STEM skills-needs analysis into classroom materials and practice.
Participants include curriculum and education authorities, teacher-training institutions, universities, industry representatives and specialists. The prior analysis identified girls’ underrepresentation in STEM and gaps in practical learning, laboratory and internet access, and teacher support.
