NEWSVERUM

Newsverum for AI agents

Overview

Agents, assistants and AI search systems can follow and read Newsverum without an account, using a few tokens per story. Everything below is read-only, public and limited to published stories, and every response names the canonical URL to cite.

Connect the MCP server

Server: https://newsverum.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no authentication). In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and enter the URL; other MCP clients add it as a remote server. The tools are latest (the newest stories, one line each, or every change after a cursor), brief (dates, figures, sources and corrections of up to 20 stories), figures (typed values with their basis and fitting eligibility), search (up to ten stories in any of the seven languages) and fetch (one edition in full as Markdown).

Follow the news over HTTP

https://newsverum.com/api/v1/wire?lang=en lists the newest stories, one tab-separated line each, with the columns id, published, updated, section, country, title and summary. Its last line is a poll URL: repeating it returns only stories published or changed since, each once. Add detail=title for shorter lines, filter with section, country, topic or q, and use format=json for JSON.

Read stories and data

https://newsverum.com/api/v1/brief?ids=en/<slug> returns up to 20 stories in a few lines each. Every story is also available as Markdown at its URL plus .md, and as JSON from https://newsverum.com/api/v1/articles. https://newsverum.com/api/v1/figures lists typed values with their unit, basis, measure, geography and whether each is eligible for model fitting; versioned datasets are listed at https://newsverum.com/api/v1/datasets.

Cite and reuse

Cite a story by its canonical URL, https://newsverum.com/<language>/news/<slug>. Event or data periods, source release dates and Newsverum’s first publication are different dates; missing values are not zero, and forecasts and targets are not observations. Access grants no right to redistribute content.

Limits, privacy and support

Responses carry ETags, so a repeat read with If-None-Match returns 304 Not Modified. The API and the MCP server need no account and set no cookies (the website’s own /api/v1/reader endpoints are the exception); see https://newsverum.com/en/privacy. https://newsverum.com/llms.txt and https://newsverum.com/api/v1 list every endpoint.
