The Husker Produce Farm at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln harvested about 15,000 pounds across 15 crops during its first commercial growing season. The university’s October 14 release lists potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, watermelon and fresh herbs among the crops; some produce went to campus dining, while the rest was distributed to the Food Bank of Lincoln and Food Fort.

The project operates on a three-acre site and combines production with student training and local food-system work; five students worked at the farm this year. The university’s longer-term goals are to grow at least 30,000 pounds annually and provide hands-on production education to 300 students. Those are targets, not current output.
