The Scottish Government updated its cereal harvest statistics on 8 October, adding usage and disposal estimates for the 2025 harvest. The farm-gate series estimates about 1.03 million tonnes of wheat production in 2025 and total disposals of 952,000 tonnes. The same tables put barley production at about 1.93 million tonnes and oats at 185,000 tonnes.

The survey estimates total disposals of about 1.87 million tonnes for barley and 183,000 tonnes for oats. These figures cover cereal use or onward sales at the farm gate; they do not measure retail consumption. Table values here are rounded to the nearest thousand tonnes.

Methodology

The source explicitly says disposal estimates for the 2025 harvest were added on 8 October 2026. Production and total-disposal estimates from the supporting workbook are rounded to the nearest thousand tonnes. Disposals mean cereal use or onward sales at farm gate; they are not retail consumption or net stock changes across all stages.
