Jordan’s agriculture minister, Saeb Khraisat, told Petra on 4 August that this year’s wheat and barley harvest had reached 120,000 tonnes so far and was expected to rise to 130,000 tonnes in the following days. The higher figure was a near-term expectation, not a completed harvest total.

Khraisat also said grain stocks were sufficient for about a year of national needs. Petra reported an 18% year-on-year rise in first-half agricultural exports and a government purchase price of JD520 per tonne; these are separate indicators and periods.
