A 14 October report from USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service examined the potential agricultural-export effects of the roughly 2,300–2,400-kilometre Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor, linking Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile. The report says transport costs to Asia could fall by 30–40% and shipping time could decline from about 55 days via Santos to about 42 days using Pacific ports; these are estimates, not achieved results.
The report says the Bioceanic Bridge between Porto Murtinho and Carmelo Peralta was about 80% complete in early 2026 and gives late 2026 as the corridor’s tentative completion date. It also reviews rail projects in Brazil’s Central-West. The proposed Ferrogrão line is intended to reduce transport costs by up to 20% once completed, but the report notes delays and opposition related to environmental and Indigenous concerns.
