On October 9, ANP’s board approved a regulatory-impact report and public consultation and hearing on revising accreditation rules for research units. The rules apply to institutions carrying out projects funded through the research, development and innovation (R&D&I) clause in oil and gas exploration and production contracts.

The proposed consultation will last 45 days. The draft would replace the current detailed review with streamlined accreditation drawing on public databases such as the Institutional Information Register, the Lattes CV platform and the National Research Infrastructure Platform; ANP would retain monitoring, inspection and audit powers. The agency has not adopted a final rule.
