On 1 October, WHO and partners introduced the Data to Action pandemic-preparedness project, bringing together 12 Western Pacific countries. WHO lists Kiribati, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Naoero, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Tonga, Tuvalu and Viet Nam.

The Pandemic Fund grant is US$35.99 million. WHO also reported more than US$151 million in additional co-financing from international partners and more than US$37 million in co-investment from participating governments. The latter two figures are lower bounds in the source.

The project is intended to strengthen multisource surveillance, laboratory networks and diagnostic capacity, and build a One Health workforce linking human, animal and environmental health. The announcement describes planned capacity-building; it does not establish that these results have already been achieved.
