England’s second Sustainable Farming Incentive application window opened on 22 September with £233 million available. The programme aims to provide income support to farmers and land managers in return for sustainable food production and environmental actions.

The government said the first application round received 7,000 applications and 3,100 new agreements were live by 1 September. Those administrative figures do not show how many farmers will receive support in the second round; the new window also includes £3 million not allocated in the first.
