Canada and Ontario announced $2 million for a second intake of the province’s Food Safety and Growth Initiative. Eligible small businesses that produce, process or service certain food products can seek support for food-safety equipment, traceability systems and process improvements.

Grants can reach $75,000 per project, and the project location must have fewer than 100 employees. Applications are scheduled to open October 19 and close March 1, 2027, or earlier if funding is committed. The first intake, launched in 2024, supported 90 projects and helped create more than 70 full- and part-time jobs, according to the governments.
