The governments of Canada and Ontario announced nearly C$22 million on October 13 for farmers and food processors through the Market Diversification and Trade Resiliency Initiative. Ontario said the funding will support projects at more than 130 agri-food businesses seeking to diversify sales and reach new global markets.

The projects are expected to create 925 jobs and, including cost-shared industry spending, generate up to C$134 million in total investment. Examples include an applesauce packaging line, new food products, optical sorting and AI-enabled grading equipment, and packaging systems. These are project expectations and an upper-bound total investment estimate, not reported completed outcomes.
