The UK Treasury launched a consultation on corporate-tax simplification for business investment on 28 October, with responses due by 11:59pm on 21 November 2026. The programme will develop and prioritise potential reforms with businesses, advisers and other stakeholders over the following year.
The document examines areas including treaty relief from withholding tax on interest, anti-hybrid mismatch rules, and rules affecting investment and innovation. It considers changes to guidance, administration and legislation while seeking to preserve revenue, prevent avoidance and maintain the integrity of the tax system.
The consultation identifies areas for further work rather than replacing all current corporation-tax obligations. Detailed proposals will be developed after engagement and testing. This targeted programme is separate from the government’s broader call for evidence on how corporation-tax administration should operate.
