VTT said on 21 October that a heavy truck developed for the EU-funded ESCALATE project will enter regular transport operations in Finland in late 2026. The SISU vehicle is designed to run mainly on electricity, with a hydrogen fuel cell providing supplementary power on long-haul assignments.

The six-month pilot will collect data on energy use, performance and reliability. VTT says the truck is expected to cover about 540 kilometres per day on a route between Vuosaari harbour and Jyväskylä; the release describes a test plan, not measured operating results.
