Battery X Metals released results on October 9 from a performance evaluation of its lithium-ion battery rebalancing technology on one electric vehicle. The company said the vehicle-reported estimated range rose from about 240 kilometres before the procedure to 341 kilometres afterward, an estimated gain of about 101 kilometres, or 42%. It said the vehicle recovered about 85% of its approximately 401-kilometre manufacturer-rated range.

The reported difference between cell voltages fell from about 41 millivolts to 4 millivolts after rebalancing and a four-hour stabilization period, a reduction of about 90%. An independent automotive service centre conducted the evaluation, and Battery X’s development partner Beijing Pengneng supplied the results. Battery X said it had not independently verified them and cautioned that a single-vehicle test may not represent other vehicles, battery chemistries or operating conditions.
