Microchip Technology said on October 9 that it had acquired Austin-based VORAGO Technologies. VORAGO develops microcontrollers and microprocessors designed for high-radiation and extreme-temperature environments; the companies did not disclose the transaction’s financial terms.

The acquisition adds VORAGO’s radiation-hardened chip family and patented HARDSIL process technology to Microchip’s aerospace, defense and space lines. Microchip said it does not expect the deal to be material to its consolidated financial results; no purchase price was given.
