Singapore’s national water agency PUB has received a further S$135 million for coastal protection and flood resilience under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 plan. The new funding initiative builds on the S$125 million awarded in 2023 for research into coastal protection and inland flood management.

Research will focus on three areas: making coastal infrastructure construction more efficient and sustainable; improving the design and operation of tidal gates and pumping stations; and developing digital tools for monitoring, operations and maintenance. New research grant calls are scheduled to begin in 2027.
