A NASA Earth Observatory report published October 9 describes false-colour images from Landsat 8 and 9 acquired on October 2, 2026, showing flooding along the Bang Pakong River in Thailand’s Prachin Buri province. NASA presented an image of the same area from October 7, 2025, for comparison; the imagery distinguishes water from vegetation and developed land.

NASA said persistent heavy rain in late September and early October sustained flooding across the country. The report cited International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies figures saying floods in 50 provinces had affected more than 4 million people since mid-September, and government estimates that about 270,000 hectares of farmland were damaged. Those figures are humanitarian and government reports cited by NASA, not measurements made by the satellite image itself.
