Pereyaslovsky mine reaches 115-million-tonne milestone
Russian Coal said its Pereyaslovsky open-pit mine had produced 115 million tonnes of brown coal since opening in 1987. Its main customers are heat producers and the housing and utilities sector.

A 23 October company release said the Pereyaslovsky mine, part of Krasnoyarskkrayugol, had mined its 115-millionth tonne of lignite. Industrial production began in 1987, with 12,900 tonnes in the first year. The mine produces grade 3BR brown coal. Russian Coal gave its calorific value as 4,170–4,500 kilocalories per kilogram and said shipments move through Ugolnaya railway station.
Equipment includes EKG-5A and EKG-10A electric shovels, a SANY SY750H hydraulic excavator, ESH-10/70 walking draglines and BelAZ haul trucks. The company attributed the milestone to long-term work by mining, transport, maintenance and engineering teams. The 115 million tonnes is cumulative output since 1987, not annual production; the release gives no current annual output or reserve estimate.
The cumulative milestone should not be confused with annual output: the company says the 115 million tonnes were mined since operations began in 1987. Its October 2026 release says production in the first year was only 12,900 tonnes, illustrating how the total accumulated over decades. In 2024, the company reported that its annual production plan had been met by 17 November, with output above 3.7 million tonnes by that date. That dated comparison makes clear that 115 million tonnes is a lifetime figure, not the result of one reporting period.
Pereyaslovsky describes its product as 3BR brown coal, with a stated calorific value of 4,170–4,500 kilocalories per kilogram. Customer groups include power generators and housing and municipal services. A separate 2024 company notice placed the mine in Rybinsky District and reported about 352 million tonnes of balance reserves and a workforce of roughly 550 at that time. Those are figures given in 2024; the new release did not update them. In 2025, the company said two 95-tonne SANY haul trucks had joined the fleet under its investment programme, one example of equipment renewal.
The October release names EKG-5A and EKG-10A excavators, an ESH-10/70 walking dragline, SANY SY750H machines and BelAZ haul trucks. It says coal is dispatched through Ugolnaya station. Together, these details outline the chain from open-pit stripping and excavation to loading and rail transport. The director’s comments on safety and teamwork are part of the company’s announcement; the source gives no measurable injury rate or independent safety audit result.
Because the mine has operated for decades, the announcement is best read as a cumulative-production milestone, not an annual target or reserves update. Its central figures are the 115-million-tonne lifetime total and the equipment used in the dispatch chain; the release does not state current annual production.
