The Republic of Congo’s health ministry and the World Health Organization presented a One Health platform in Brazzaville on October 1, the state news agency ACI reported. The session introduced local officials and other participants to coordination across human health, animal health and environmental services to identify threats before they become emergencies.

WHO said it could support integrated surveillance, risk assessment, emergency preparedness and response, and capacity building. The Brazzaville prefect is expected to formalize the local platform. An official told ACI that Pointe-Noire was expected to establish its platform the following week, with later expansion to the country’s other 15 departments; the report does not say the system is already operational nationwide.
