WHO reported on 4 October that Italy, through its development cooperation agency, had contributed €3.5 million for a three-year health initiative in Sudan. The programme is intended to support emergency response and Federal Ministry of Health interventions across 15 states.

More than three million people are expected to benefit. Vaccination campaigns are intended to reach over 730,000 people, including children needing catch-up doses. The programme also supports emergency operations centres and outbreak surveillance; these are planned beneficiaries rather than people already reached.
