Research from OutSystems, CIO Dive and KPMG reported a gap between confidence and operational readiness in enterprise AI-agent governance. The report, released October 15, said an online survey conducted in June 2026 drew 858 executives from CIO Dive databases. While 82% believed their organizations could keep pace with governing, integrating and monitoring AI agents, only 26% said they were well prepared to resolve conflicts across agents, systems and automated workflows.
Some 83% of respondents said their organizations rely on existing IT, security or compliance processes, specialized reviews, or centralized policies. The report put the share using automated controls, audit trails and formal human review points together at 5%. It also found that 71% expect applications to coordinate work across systems and teams within five years; this is a respondent expectation, not a measure of deployments already achieved.
