OCI Energy and Arava Power took part with project partners in the groundbreaking of the 347 MW DC SunRoper Solar project in Wharton County, Texas, on 1 September 2026, which marked the start of construction. The project is jointly developed by OCI Energy and Arava Power, financed by ING and constructed by WHC. WHC said it serves as EPC contractor and looks forward to executing the build through to completion in 2027.
The solar project is expected to begin operations in December 2027. It will provide electricity to a Fortune 100 company under a long-term power purchase agreement. The site is near the Houston metropolitan area, and the release said SunRoper will add generating capacity to the ERCOT market.
