The Nigerian Academy of Science has launched the Research Leaders Mentorship (ReLM) Programme, pairing 25 early-career researchers with 25 established scientists, Voice of Nigeria reported on 5 October. The six-month programme began with an orientation workshop on 7 September and is aimed at Nigerian postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers whose terminal degrees were completed within the previous seven years.

The Academy said mentors would be matched to participants by research interest, career goals and specialisation. It plans individual mentoring and group sessions on research careers, grant writing, scientific communication and professional networks.
