Nigeria starts creative-media skills training for over 100 Ebonyi beneficiaries

The federal IDEAS-TVET initiative began training more than 100 beneficiaries in Abakaliki in video editing, graphic design, camera handling and related skills. The education ministry said more than 500 assessors were also being trained nationwide, a separate group from local participants.

The IDEAS-TVET Cohort 3 programme began training more than 100 beneficiaries in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on 2 October, according to the Federal Ministry of Information. The Federal Ministry of Education is implementing the initiative with Guarantee Global Tech and Resources and support from the World Bank.

The Abakaliki course covers video editing, graphic design, crew membership, camera handling and content creation. A ministry representative said over 500 assessors from training providers were being trained nationwide; this is separate from the local beneficiary group.

The ministry said the course follows National Occupational Standards and includes quality-assurance assessment. The launch report does not give an end date, completion figure or employment results for the Ebonyi trainees.
