Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction inaugurated a joint technical working group in Abuja on October 9 for the Renewed Hope Resilient Livelihood Pathways Programme. The ministry says it is developing the initiative with the Bank of Agriculture to help households move from social assistance into agricultural livelihoods.
The proposed programme targets 63,000 vulnerable households across nine pilot states, or about 7,000 in each state. Its proposed first phase would focus on crop farming, with input financing, grants, training, access to secured farmland and market links. The ministry describes the initiative as still under technical development; it did not report that disbursements or programme outcomes had begun.
