Farmers in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory called for more land, modern equipment and processing facilities to support food production and livelihoods. Voice of Nigeria reported that the appeal came at the 2026 FCT Farmers’ Day event, held in Abuja on 13–14 October by the FCT chapter of AFAN and VIWADA.

Perpetual Nkechi Okafor, VIWADA president and AFAN’s FCT chair, said the association had more than 5,000 members across six area councils. Participants also called for tractors they said were unused to be put to work and for support to be timed to planting seasons. The report announced no new funding commitment.
