IllustrationMexico’s Manufacturing Orders Indicator fell to a seasonally adjusted 49.1 points in September 2026, according to a monthly business-survey bulletin released by INEGI and Banco de México on October 1. It was down 2.5 points from August and 0.6 point year over year. The indicator had been above the 50-point benchmark in August.
Expected orders, expected production, employment and suppliers’ input-delivery timing all weakened during the month, while the input-inventory component rose. The 50-centred index records managers’ perceptions: a reading below 50 signals less favourable expectations, not a percentage fall in factory output. The survey sample includes 1,528 firms from the manufacturing frame of businesses with at least 101 employees. Seasonally adjusted values are econometric estimates; the original September reading was preliminary at 47.3 points.
