Jordan processed 808,866 customs declarations through September

The Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies (AOCTC) said its members processed 808,866 customs declarations across Jordan’s customs and border centres in the first nine months of 2026, covering all customs statuses. Aqaba Customs Directorate recorded the largest share, with 183,934, followed by Al-Omari with 174,415, airport clearance customs with 123,456, Amman with 75,207, Jaber with 67,470, Zarqa Free Zone with 48,856 and the e-commerce centre with 35,037. The remaining declarations were handled elsewhere.

Official figures cited by the association put Aqaba Container Terminal’s throughput at 786,949 TEUs, up a reported 7% from 738,353 in the same period last year. The number of ships docking at the terminal fell from 446 to 438. Laden inbound containers rose from 370,531 to 411,244, while laden outbound containers totalled 77,328.

At Aqaba’s main ports, ships completing unloading operations increased from 1,183 to 1,274. Calls at the oil and gas port rose from 91 to 126, at the main port from 290 to 320, and at the passenger port from 802 to 828. Cargo handled across the main ports in January–September reached 10,878,955 tonnes, compared with 7,342,816 tonnes a year earlier; Petra reported the increase as 48%. The release does not break cargo down by source or quantify emissions from the activity.
