Italy’s agriculture ministry said on 9 October that the government had made €80 million available to support fishing fleets and aquaculture businesses facing higher fuel costs. The package includes a €10 million fuel tax credit and €70 million through a reallocation of the 2021–27 national fisheries programme, distributed through regional calls.

The ministry’s estimate puts diesel use between 1 March and 30 September at 130 million litres and the average price increase at €0.50 a litre, or €65 million in extra costs. It also cited a separate €10 million zero-interest ISMEA loan facility, repayable over five years with the first instalment after two years. The fuel-use and extra-cost figures are estimates, not audited consumption totals.
