The European Commission approved two French state-aid schemes on 9 October for companies affected by higher fuel prices. Their maximum combined budget is €40.5 million: €23.3 million for transport firms and €17.2 million for agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture.
Companies whose fuel costs account for at least 5% of annual turnover may qualify for state-guaranteed soft loans at a fixed 3.8% rate. Eligible loans range from €5,000 to €50,000, run for up to three years and include a 12-month deferral of principal repayments. Commission approval does not mean every company automatically receives a loan.
