Italy’s agriculture ministry said on 9 October that a decree introduces the Electronic Olive Accompanying Document (DAO) for movements of olives, bulk olive oil and packaged oil. The tool is to connect the national agricultural information system (SIAN) with the electronic olive-oil register (RTO), and involve olive growers in digital traceability.

The ministry said the deadline for registering operations would fall from six days to three. It presented the change as an upgrade to an existing register, with no new burden on public finances. The announcement describes a regulatory and record-keeping change; it does not provide evidence of fraud detected or measured enforcement outcomes.
