Statistics Indonesia said the national Farmers’ Terms of Trade index (NTP) rose to 131.11 in September 2026 from 129.19 in August, a 1.49% monthly increase. The index compares the prices farmers receive with the prices they pay and was compiled from rural price monitoring across 38 provinces.

The received-price index increased 1.93% while the paid-price index rose 0.44%. BPS presents NTP as an indicator of farmers’ exchange position and purchasing capacity; it is not a direct measure of farm income, profit or household welfare. The two component movements help explain the index change but do not establish changes in individual farm costs or earnings.

Methodology

NTP is the ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) to the index of prices paid (Ib). BPS calculates it from rural price monitoring in 38 provinces; levels use the 2018=100 base. The index is a terms-of-trade indicator, not nominal income.
