India’s water ministry reported on 29 October that the Ganga Flood Control Board had met in New Delhi on 27 October 2026. Water minister C. R. Patil chaired the meeting, which reviewed interstate coordination and flood-management planning across the basin.
The minister launched the Punah Bharan mobile application, developed by the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics with the National Water Mission. It is intended to help identify locations suitable for artificial groundwater recharge; its launch does not establish that recharge works have been completed.
The board also discussed the Ganga Flood Control Commission’s revised mandate, risk-based basin master plans, bridge waterway capacity and the quality of detailed project reports. The ministry described improvements sought in planning and technical appraisal without announcing a construction award or a project funding total.
