India’s water ministry reported on 29 October that the Narmada Control Authority review committee had approved payment arrangements for outstanding interstate project dues during financial year 2026–27. The committee’s meeting took place by video conference on 27 October 2026.
The committee adopted the Attorney General’s opinion and a memorandum signed on 7 July by Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The ministry described the memorandum as a one-time settlement of pending interstate dues, claims and financial liabilities concerning project cost sharing.
The announcement links the agreement to long-running cost-sharing issues for the Sardar Sarovar project. It reports approval of the settlement and payment process without giving a total amount transferred or confirming that all outstanding payments have already been made.
