Renewables supplied 59.1% of Germany’s electricity in the first half

Destatis said renewables supplied 136.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity fed into the grid in the first half of 2026.

Germany generated and fed 230.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity into the grid in the first half of 2026. That was 4.5% more than in the same period of 2025, according to provisional results published by Destatis on 8 September.

Renewables supplied 136.4 billion kilowatt-hours, or 59.1% of domestic generation. Gas-fired generation increased 6.4% to 38.0 billion kilowatt-hours; the figures cover electricity generation, not consumption.
