Ethiopia's president sets public-service and coverage targets for 2019 year

President Taye Atske-Selassie set targets of 65 percent electricity access, 85 percent health-insurance coverage and 70 percent school-feeding coverage.

President Taye Atske-Selassie presented Ethiopia's priorities for the 2019 Ethiopian year at a joint parliamentary session on 6 October. Targets reported by the Ethiopian News Agency include raising electricity access to 65 percent, health-insurance coverage to 85 percent and school-feeding coverage to 70 percent.

He said forest cover, reported at a current level of 26 percent, would be expanded, without giving a new numerical target. These are government targets for the coming year, not achieved outcomes.
