The Democratic Republic of the Congo and France signed a declaration of intent in Kinshasa on October 2 for a more than €1.3 million project supporting survivors of conflict-related sexual violence, according to the Congolese Press Agency, citing the Justice Ministry. The project is titled “Support for the Rule of Law for Victims of Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones.”

The plan is to help survivors access justice without charge, accompany legal cases and connect eligible people with the National Fund for Reparation of Victims (Fonarev). It also includes community awareness work and support through local legal clinics run with Congolese civil-society organizations. The declaration records a planned project and funding amount; it does not report the number of people already served or reparations paid.
