China’s government reported on October 17 that the State Council reviewed progress on the AI Plus initiative at its executive meeting the previous day. The meeting called for algorithm innovation, better data supply and coordinated development of computing capacity and electricity supply, alongside risk assessment tailored to different industries.

The council approved in principle a Teachers Law revision draft and a Pricing Law amendment draft for submission to the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. Safeguarding teacher pay and rights and curbing disorderly low-price competition were among the issues. It also decided to change provisions in 14 administrative regulations and repeal four others; commencement dates were not stated.
