Statistics Canada released the August 2026 Transportation Services Index and Supply Chain Services Price Index on October 19. The transportation volume index was 88.3 before seasonal adjustment and 92.4 seasonally adjusted. The price index for freight transportation services was 151.8. All three index levels use January 2018 as 100.

The volume measure covers domestic for-hire freight transportation and is a Laspeyres-type index; the price measure tracks monthly prices for freight services supplied by Canada’s for-hire transportation sector. The indexes are national, use different adjustment treatment, and may be revised for the previous six months. Index levels are not tonnage or dollar prices.
