Market sees Brazil’s 2026 primary deficit at 52.3 billion reais

The Finance Ministry’s September Prisma survey showed the market median for the central government deficit below its August estimate.

Brazil’s 15 September Prisma Fiscal survey showed market participants lowering their 2026 central-government primary-deficit forecast to 52.271 billion reais from 59.145 billion in August. The 2027 median also fell, from 55 billion to 45.35 billion reais.

The survey put the 2026 federal revenue forecast at 3.202 trillion reais and net central-government revenue at 2.581 trillion. The median estimate for gross general-government debt was 83.2% of GDP in 2026 and 87% in 2027. These are market projections, not recorded outcomes.
