Brazil’s government cut its total 2026 spending restraint by 1.9 billion reais to 16.1 billion in the revenue and primary expenditure review published on 24 September. The previous review had placed the entire restraint in spending blocks.

The new schedule sets blocked spending at 2.4 billion reais and imposes a 13.6 billion reais spending contingency to meet the lower bound of the primary-balance target. The government said the reduction would not be distributed immediately to agencies; it would keep a reserve for possible needs arising before the next review.
