Brazil’s Energy Research Office (EPE), in an outlook published on 19 October, projected additional demand for liquid fuels and liquefied petroleum gas of 3.0 billion litres in 2026 and a further 4.2 billion litres in 2027. It cited economic activity, labour-market conditions and disposable income among factors expected to support consumption.
EPE forecast 2026 diesel demand of 72.4 billion litres and Otto-cycle fuel consumption of 64.8 billion litres in gasoline-equivalent terms. It expects aviation kerosene demand to exceed 7.5 billion litres in 2027, above the previous historical record set in 2014. These are projections, not recorded consumption.
