Argentina’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries authorized commercial use of a genetically modified soybean under Resolution 200/2026, announced on 16 October. The crop has tolerance to herbicides based on glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium and 2,4-D, as well as to HPPD-inhibiting herbicides.

The government said the soybean was produced by conventionally crossing two modified events already authorized for sale in Argentina. Regulatory reviews by CONABIA, SENASA and the market-policy directorate found no new or increased agricultural biosafety risks, judged it as safe and nutritious as conventional comparators, and identified no risk to exports of soy or its derivatives.
