Rio Grande do Sul’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation said on October 14 that 127 farms in 35 municipalities had requested and received permission to plant soybeans early on 20,462.8 hectares for the 2026/27 season. The state allowed planting from September 15, two weeks before the regular calendar began.

Producers seeking the exception had to submit a management plan for Asian soybean rust. The secretariat said early-planted areas are outside Brazil’s ZARC agricultural climate-risk zoning and would not receive Proagro coverage for losses. The announced figure is authorized area, not a measure of completed planting or projected output.
