The mission visited the corridor from 21 September to 1 October and covered 1,086 kilometres across the El Meniaa–In Salah–Tamanrasset sections. Discussions built on the Bank’s ongoing intervention along the Laghouat–Ghardaïa–El Meniaa axis and Algeria’s planned railway megaproject extending farther south.

The project was not reported as completed or operational; the release says the mission assessed sustainability and resilience challenges. AfDB also cited Algeria’s national aim to expand its railway network from 6,000 kilometres to 15,000 kilometres by 2030.
