Input prices were up from a revised 5.8% annual rise in July; output prices were up from 3.3%. The monthly changes were 0.3% for inputs and 0.7% for outputs.

Crude oil prices rose 26.7% year on year, while coke and refined petroleum outputs increased 49.1%. The ONS said the figures remained affected by the Middle East conflict; these are producer prices, not consumer inflation. The latest-month observations are provisional and not seasonally adjusted.
