Türkiye’s installed electricity capacity stood at 126,944 MW on 31 August 2026, according to figures updated by the Energy Ministry on 18 September. Hydropower accounted for 25.5% of capacity, natural gas 19.5%, coal 17.4%, solar 22% and wind 12.2%; geothermal and other sources made up the remainder.

The ministry counted 43,844 power plants, including unlicensed facilities. Solar accounted for 41,749 of them, compared with 777 hydro, 418 wind, 353 natural-gas, 69 coal, 68 geothermal and 410 other plants. The number of facilities does not by itself show each source’s share of electricity produced.

Installed capacity and realised generation are different measures. The ministry reported 2025 generation of 362.9 TWh and consumption of 360.9 TWh; coal supplied 33.6% of generation and natural gas 23%. The National Energy Plan projects consumption of 455.3 TWh in 2030 and 510.5 TWh in 2035. Those are projections, not observed demand.
