Cars accounted for 69.2% of EU passenger-kilometres in 2024 and aircraft for 15.8%, Eurostat reported. Trains reached 7.5%, overtaking buses, coaches and trolleybuses at 7.3%.
The train share rose 0.3 percentage points from the previous year. The indicator combines passengers and distance travelled; the shares do not represent unique passenger counts or transport company revenues.
Investment commitments reported at end-June were 141 percent higher than in 2021. Oman also outlined port cargo, refinery capacity and dry-dock activity.
