The EU transported 13.29 billion tonnes of road freight in 2025, up 1.8% from 2024, Eurostat said. Metal ores and other mining products accounted for 3.04 billion tonnes, or 22.9%.
Food, beverages and tobacco led transport performance at 311.1 billion tonne-kilometres. Tonnes measure weight, while tonne-kilometres combine weight and distance; the two totals cannot simply be added together.
Investment commitments reported at end-June were 141 percent higher than in 2021. Oman also outlined port cargo, refinery capacity and dry-dock activity.
The platform will focus on the Qatar Investment Authority’s local portfolio. The government also outlined five-year expectations for US$38.5 billion in infrastructure projects and US$22.5 billion in private investment.
