TC Energy selected Worley for the Ontario Pumped Storage Project’s next development phase. A Worley-led team including EllisDon and AECOM will advance front-end engineering design, cost estimates, execution planning and project readiness.
The project remains in planning and development. The companies intend to prioritize local workers and suppliers where possible. The announcement concerns an engineering preparation role rather than commissioning of the storage facility or a final construction decision.
In an IEA scenario, electricity could cost-effectively supply 33 percent of final energy use by 2035; projected import savings are not realized outcomes.
The utility’s long-term plan projects lower emissions despite rising electricity demand; its solar, battery and reverse-osmosis targets are not completed outcomes.
